At the turn of the twentieth century, Georg Jensen introduced a revolutionary concept in design and manufacture that became so popular for its beauty that he became known as the “Father of Modern Silver.” Georg Jensen had formal training as a goldsmith and a sculptor, and it clearly emerged that his designs and manufacture were heavily influenced by the appearance of the Art Nouveau movement, which, in England, was called the Arts and Crafts movement. Because of his inherent love of nature, many of Georg Jensen’s designs were embellished with the harvest blessings of grapes, vines, blossoms, and berries.
