Jak Fine Silver also buys fine, authenticated silverware

Jak Fine Silver is proud to offer clients and collectors of fine Danish silverware an assortment of the widely-sought collection pieces of the Georg Jensen silverware, most of which are no longer manufactured. Many of the Art Nouveau influenced silver pieces are as lovely and as collectible as ever, and for the discerning silverware owner, Jak Fine Silver is able to offer exquisite and almost mint condition items. Many of the Georg Jensen silver pieces bear the vintage date marks, some of which go back as far as 1904 and 1908. Jak Fine Silver is proud to stand behind the authenticity of both the date and hallmarks of every exhibited piece. The company’s George Jensen silver collection includes desirable pieces, such as pill boxes, bookmarks, tableware, large and small bowls, and wine services.

At the turn of the twentieth century, Georg Jensen introduced a revolutionary concept in design and manufacture that became so popular for its beauty that he became known as the “Father of Modern Silver.” Georg Jensen had formal training as a goldsmith and a sculptor, and it clearly emerged that his designs and manufacture were heavily influenced by the appearance of the Art Nouveau movement, which, in England, was called the Arts and Crafts movement. Because of his inherent love of nature, many of Georg Jensen’s designs were embellished with the harvest blessings of grapes, vines, blossoms, and berries. Jak Fine Silver has collected many of George Jensen’s fine Danish silverware pieces, such as the dainty, yet sturdy cruet sets, lovely serving bowls with small side bowls, and table serving pieces.

Georg Jensen engaged the services of many designers, all of whom were accomplished painters and goldsmiths. These designers and manufacturers had creative visions, which were different from his own inclination to work in the Art Nouveau genre, but he took the almost unheard of step in permitting these artists to add their own initials to their creations, and therefore, take full credit for their design and manufacture. All of George Jensen’s silverware pieces were made in Denmark and they bear either the Denmark or Copenhagen stamp mark. Jensen silverware became the standard against which all other silverware was judged. Jak Fine Silver is privileged to be able to offer the beautiful Art Nouveau silver to grace tables on grand occasions or to be added to the fine silver collections in private homes. Any one piece of this Art Nouveau signature silverware would make a delightful wedding gift and perhaps be the beginning of another collection
